Yes! You’ll be asked your preference when signing up or searching for an instructor, and we’ll only show you instructors who teach in your chosen transmission type.
Every ADI (Approved Driving Instructor) on Instruct Me must:
Hold a valid DVSA ADI licence
Provide public liability and instructional insurance
Pass ID checks and documentation verification
Maintain good standing based on student feedback and platform reliability
Everyone learns at a different pace, so the number of lessons you’ll need can vary. The DVSA (Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency) recommends around 45 hours of professional lessons plus 20 hours of private practice to be fully test ready. But don’t worry, some learners need fewer hours, especially if they practise often, feel confident, or are learning in an automatic vehicle; which can be quicker to pick up.

We offer both manual and automatic lessons, depending on what suits you best! Manual licences give you more flexibility and are ideal if you plan to drive different types of vehicles in the future. Automatic lessons are often easier for beginners or city drivers. Whatever your choice, we’ve got trusted instructors ready to help.
Yes. If you feel like your current instructor isn’t the right fit, you can switch at any time. Just head to your dashboard, leave a review if you’d like, and browse for another instructor in your area. We want every student to feel comfortable and confident behind the wheel.
